Exploring Myrtle Farm: A Hidden Gem in North Somerset
We had the most amazing experience at Myrtle Farm, a Touring Park, Campsite, and stunning Self-Catering Holiday Barn, nestled on the fringe of Banwell village, just a hop, skip and a jump away from Weston-Super-Mare, North Somerset.
We checked in for ten adventurous nights from the 24th of June, all six of us—two adults and four enthusiastic children. The amenities we availed, including a gorgeous touring caravan, came for a steal at £215, booked conveniently on their website, Pitch up!
Upon stepping foot into this hidden gem, we were greeted with a warmth hard to find these days. Diane, one of the extraordinary owners, flashed us a welcoming grin, setting the tone for our memorable visit. This was no ordinary camping site, oh no, this was a nostalgic 10 by 10-metre corner of heaven.
While the facilities might not rival the glossy, modern ones we've grown used to, they never lacked. Owners Diane and Mark ensured everything was amply stocked – from exquisite handwashes and shower gels to essentials like toilet tissue. However, with just a couple of toilets and showers, things could get a tad tight. To the couple's credit, what the facilities lack in numbers, they make up for with love and care.
The sprawling site is nothing short of a playground for children. Diane and Mark understand that little joys make big memories. From tyre swings that bring back memories of simpler times to vast fields perfect for a game of footie, their attention to detail is absolutely commendable. Marks a hit with the kids, cracking them up with his infectious laugh and chummy boy-talk. Let's just say, he knows how to strike a chord!
Nestled down a clandestine country lane, this site appeared like an oasis of tranquility set against the ambient gushes of bird songs and the occasional ‘baa’ from a sheep. With no traces of bustling city life, it was a testament to the beauty of seclusion.
Here's how our blissful retreat panned out: - A perfectly manicured 3.5-acre plot offering spacious flat pitches replete with electrical hook-ups. - A cosy barbecue corner with seating options. - Separate men's and ladies' toilets and shower blocks. - Campers shed (stocked with a fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster) - A field dedicated to dogs and ball games. - Panoramic views that will take your breath away. - A welcome to gazebo and pup tents.
The verdant retreat leaves us with no choice but to revisit it once we're back in North Somerset. We’d proudly place this at the top of our recommendation list for anyone in search of an idyllic retreat in the heart of nature.
After a little facelift to the toilet/shower facilities, this hidden sanctuary would be nothing short of perfection. Until then, a robust 8 out of 10 does justice to this slice of paradise.
In summary, this slice of heaven, run by a kind-hearted duo willing to go the extra mile makes for a perfect family break.
